Mascara or no mascara, that is the question.

I love fashion! I really do. Picking out tops to match the bottoms and having the right accessories as the finishing touch is an art in itself and there is a reason I've been in the fashion business for over 10 years......BUT if you are a normal human being like myself (well probably not completely normal because I do not consider myself totally normal) than you know that there is definitely a time and place to be sassy, classy and oh so fashionable.
When I am working I am Styling and Profiling, Head to Toe, matchy matchy or whatever other catchy phrase there is that attributes to being very put together, but, after I get my boys from school and get home you best believe that the first or sometimes on busy days the second thing I do is change into comfy clothes.
The home is a safe place and like most people in the world our home is where we feel the most accepted no matter how we look. It is the place where we wish we looked like Sleeping Beauty when true loves kiss woke her up but we more often then not we look like something the evil dragon puked up!
Beauty time is different for each one of us and that is PERFECT! We are individuals and what works for me may not work for you.
I try to make sure I stay on my routine as best as I can so its easy to manage my time with myself and my boys.......yes I know some of you may have just rolled your eyes "Oh shes one of those routine moms who has meals prepped, laundry done and makeup done 24/7" and my response to that is Hahahah yeeeah not me at all!
Do I try to keep routines for my family and I? Yes. Do they always happen or work? Nope!
I try....key word there, try, to keep one and that helps me out. If you don't have one or anything similar than that is perfectly fine and I will still love you and respect you trying to make life work the best you can.
Now that the cats out of the bag and you know I'm not the perfect Barbie doll looking, Betty Crocker cooking woman I'll get back to tell you about my morning beauty routine.
When my alarm goes every morning I think to myself "if I hit snooze and don't give myself enough time can I still get myself together and the boys and get out the door on time". The honest truth is I usually test this theory once or twice a week depending on how busy my work week is and it has mixed outcomes.
Sometimes I get up with plenty of time and I start a pot of coffee, get the boys breakfast ready and then start on myself thinking I have enough time to figure out how I want to look that day what will be cute and then I draw a complete blank on makeup, hair ideas and outfit choices.
The flip side of that is when I do hit the snooze button, I skip the coffee (don't worry I can make some at work!......*DISCLAIMER* one should never skip coffee, especially in the morning. Coffee is the liquid that keeps us alive) get the boys quick shakes and snacks, pray my hair is cooperating that day and finally pull out whatever clothes I see first.......more often than not those days are when I look the cutest. #routinefail #gofigure
Honestly what I usually make sure I get done is the following;
Moisturizer
Eye shadow
Mascara
Liner on the bottom or top, not usually both
Foundation
Lip gloss or color
I know it doesn't sound like an involved beauty routine and in reality it isn't and that works for me.
It doesn't have to work for you, your cousin or the girl down the street, whatever works for you is great!
We all have those days where we are lucky to just get our hair and teeth brushed.....trust me this Momma has been there!
The mindset we wake up with truly does define how the rest of our day will go.
When we take the time to think about how we want to look it transitions into our mental attitude. Not everyone has the time to stand in their walking closet and ponder over all of the designer labels they have and then thirty minuets later move on to the makeup vanity to spend another thirty minuets creating the perfect contoured face.........that is a dream that I am sure most of us share but will probably never have because we are not princesses who live in a castle with ladies in waiting.
We are real women who have real lives with real life time frames. If all you can do is wake up, make sure the kids are dressed and ready to go and the only thing you got completed aside from getting clothes on that you hope were just near the dirty pile and not really dirty, was swipe on some mascara than you can conquer anything!
God only gives us what we can handle and sometimes the only weapon we need is a swipe of mascara to make us feel invincible.
